We are looking for a driven and detail-orientated Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products nationally and internationally for our client’s business.

The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on cost, supply (availability), inventory, quality and lead times.

Responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management

Key responsibilities of the Buyer.

  • The accurate, efficient, and timely placement of supplier orders to meet business demands. 
  • Ensuring all supplier orders are accurately received, by checking order confirmations and in their absence contact suppliers direct. 
  • Ensuring databases are kept up to date with all necessary records and all documents are appropriately filed and/or copied onto databases. 
  • Proactively chase suppliers to ensure orders are delivered on time contacting late suppliers to chase up deliveries and liaise with sales and production of any issues that will affect delivery to the end customer

The ideal person will have

  • Ideally a recognised Qualification in Purchasing and Supply and proven experience working within a Purchasing role      
  • Good Maths and English to at least GCSE level (or equivalent)                           
  • Able to plan to suit business needs                                            
  • Strong negotiation skills                                                                                    
  • Forecasting and cost control skills                                                                     
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures relating to purchase orders                               
  • Use of data bases and MS Excel for reporting                                        
  • Good time management skills                                                                           
  • Strong oral and written communication skills                                                                  
  • Able to establish and maintain good supplier relationships
