An immediate opportunity is now available for an Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer to join company in Hampshire.
As an Electrical/Electronic Design Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Design and develop new products and product improvements, balancing innovative engineering design, functional requirements and aesthetic appeal with product safety, cost effective design and ease of manufacture and installation
- Work in compliance with the Engineering design rules, product development vision and product development process
- Ensure that development work adheres to the requirements of project design briefs and other documentation
- Play an active role in projects, teams, meetings etc. Liaise with other cross-functional team members, suppliers and other interested parties throughout projects and encourage their involvement and participation
- Lead design reviews, communicate ideas and solutions, influence decisions and problem solving
- Validate and document design solutions are robust and reliable by using relevant tools and techniques such as computerised modelling prototyping; FMEA, FEA, life testing, load testing etc. Evaluate outcomes and act as required
- Ensure technical files are created and maintained/updated as new products are designed, or existing products are changed
- Have a detailed and through understanding of our own products, and proactively seek to learn about competitors products
- Provide technical support to other areas of the business when required
Skills and Experience needed:
- Has experience of electrical/electronic product design
- Has an excellent understanding of engineering best practice and experience designing for manufacture and installation
- Has a good understanding of system design and broad knowledge of common electrical practices including wiring, PCB design, use of test equipment, EMC considerations and electrical safety
- Has excellent knowledge of product design standards such as EN81-20, 41, BS5900
- Is proficient at researching materials, processes and market requirements
- Is proficient in the use of day to day software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, email and Internet)
- Proficient and experienced in the use of modern CAD software, AutoCAD, CADStar, MPLab
- Proficient and experienced in the Assembler and C programming languages
