An immediate opportunity is now available for an Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a company manufacturing factory in Southampton, Hampshire.

You will be joining a team that provides full preventative maintenance and repair service.  Whilst the nature of the work will be primarily of an electrical and Mechanical background, you will be operating in a multi-skilled factory environment.

The position requires work patterns, Working 42.5 hours per week on a 5 on 2 off, 6 on 1 off basis, early and late shifts.  Early shifts work 6.00 am until 2.30pm and late shift, 1.00 pm until finish.  The late Shift Engineer is on call until 12.00 am and then the Engineer on early shift is on call from 12.00 am.  Planned preventative maintenance is scheduled for Sundays, which is a non-production day.

You should be experienced electrically / Mechanical maintenance engineer with previous experience of working in a food/food related environment with short shelf life product.

Knowledge of high speed processing equipment and an understanding of importance of low levels of downtime.

The main duties for the an Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer are to:

  • Carry out planned/preventative maintenance as directed by the Engineering Manager in line with the Departments budgets
  • Ensure all required parts are available in advance of the planned/preventative maintenance
  • Ensure all critical plant and equipment is calibrated in line with processing requirements
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained within the correct standards
  • Ensure plant is set/maintained to operate at optimum level to meet plant efficiencies
  • React in a timely/efficient manner to plant breakdown to ensure a minimum downtime in production therefore reducing any overtime requirement for all employees
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to required standard including that on a service contract from an external supplier.
