Electronic/Firmware Engineer– Near Salisbury – Full time, Permanent

Our client is looking for someone with great electronic and engineering knowledge and experience to join their team based on the outskirts of Salisbury, in combination with good design and problem-solving ability.

You will help to develop new products that meet performance and cost targets and that are completed on time, as well as supporting the continuous improvement of the current range of products manufactured by their Company.

You will also produce test assemblies and to be able to operate within a multidisciplinary project team, taking responsibility for specification, detailed design, evaluation programs, troubleshooting, and transfer to manufacturing.

Your responsibilities as an Electronic Engineer are…

  • Electronic Design; using modern best practice techniques, with accuracy and appropriate detail, meeting agreed project requirements and deadlines
  • Firmware Design; using C and C++ languages to produce robust code that meets the requirement specifications and is within the agreed project deadlines
  • Embedded Linux development; developing application programs and drivers to work under Linux on single board computers.
  • Supporting Manufacture and Purchasing; assisting the purchasing department in supplier selection, maintaining good relations with suppliers, and providing a speedy response to maintain manufacturing deadlines
  • Prototype Development; using rapid prototyping techniques and services to build and test prototype / pre production units, to keep detailed documentation as specified by the company’s ISO 9001 procedures
  • Technical Support; good telephone manner, maintaining good relations with customers, speedy response, support for service department
  • Working Processes; to work within and keep appropriate documentation as specified by the company’s ISO 9001 procedures

What skills do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Qualified in Electronic/Software Design                                                                    
  • Qualified to satisfactory standard at GCSE as minimum (or equivalent)                                        
  • High grade in Maths GCSE (or equivalent)                                       
  • Valid UK driving licence                                                                                                                        
  • C and C++ Programming                                                                              
  • Altium Designer                                                                                                         
  • Electronic design (Digital/Analogue)                                                             
  • Arm Cortex MCU                                                                                           
  • Face to face sales skills and appropriate non-verbal
  • communications                                                                                                        
  • Using computer systems including, email, MS Word                                   
  • Use of data bases and MS Excel                                                                              
  • Good time management
