Paraplanner (9-12-month FTC) – Berkshire area

Our client based in Berkshire is looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join their team on an 9 to 12-month fixed term contract.

As a Paraplanner you will be required to provide full support to the Financial Advisors and Planners, who specialise in Pensions and Investments. A good overall knowledge of a wide variety of products is essential along with strong report writing, organisational and supervisory skills in order to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities as a Paraplanner:

  • Collating client information including soft and hard facts (fact finding)
  • Reviewing client information with Financial Planner to formulate recommendations
  • Make client recommendations and prepare client report for approval by Financial Planner
  • Research products, providers and funds
  • Responsibility for the Model Portfolio Programme
  • Supervise Assistant Paraplanner and aid development
  • Prepare Suitability Reports, Pension Analysis Reports and Discussion Reports to be reviewed with the Financial Planner
  • Responsibility for running the review programme to ensure all clients are offered their annual/bi-annual reviews
  • On-going development of procedures and report templates
  • Work closely with the Client Services Manager to develop procedures
  • Liaise with the Client Services Manager in relation to workflow
  • Ensuring that the Financial Planners are always prepared for their meetings. Organising the team to make sure forms are prepped and meeting constant deadlines for generating the reports for all meetings (including review meetings)

Skills and experience needed for the Paraplanner role:

  • Product knowledge – Pensions including pension transfers (analysis of Defined Benefit Schemes), Investments, ISA’s, Investment Bonds, Offshore Investment Bonds, WRAPs and Platforms.
  • Fund research
  • Portfolio planning
  • Report writing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Previous experience of Intelliflo/Intelligent Office, FE Analytics and Synaptic product research/fund research desirable.
  • MS Office and internet essential.
  • Full CII Diploma in Financial Planning
  • CII Paraplanning qualification desirable (we would encourage this coursework exam to be completed if not already obtained)
  • Record of continuing development and technical learning especially in relation to pensions
  • Demonstrable previous experience within a Paraplanner role within an IFA practice and preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial services support/advice role
  • Experience of intensive fund research and the running of model portfolios
