An immediate opportunity is now available for a Production Manager to join a manufacturing food company in Southampton, Hampshire.

This is a permanent position and you will be managing and co-ordinating the production to make sure the quality of the products is at high standards. You will also meet set production targets, implementing Lean Manufacturing and manage the safety across the site. 

As a Production Manager you will be:

  • Implement actions as appropriate with staff/service suppliers
  • Report on budget variance
  • Highlight/justify discrepancy as appropriate
  • Control and Approve overtime
  • Identify short falls of skill levels
  • Submit training requirements to HR department
  • Complete personnel requisition where appropriate
  • Submit contract renewal recommendations for subordinates
  • Interview potential new starters
  • Attend Manufacturing monthly quality meeting
  • Support department audits
  • Complete the appropriate section of NCN’s
  • Assist/troubleshoot into quality failure as appropriate
  • Participate in monthly factory health and safety meeting
  • Conduct quarterly safety inspection
  • Prepare and execute risk assessment programme
  • Coach and mentor staff
  • Implement lean manufacturing
  • Report daily performance and review downtime
  • Complete GMP audits    

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience in similar position.
  • Lean manufacturing or six sigma qualifications 

Desirable

  • Additional qualification in man management, basic food hygiene
  • Occupational safety and health certificate

Experience:

Essential responsibilities executed

  • Experience in a similar management role in a FMCG environment.

Desirable responsibilities

  • Ideally experience in setup of bottling and packing equipment.
  • Managing a multi-skilled production team
  • Familiar with HACCP, Health and Safety and quality systems
  • 5S SIC TPM Lean Six Sigma

Knowledge, Skills and Attitude

  • Strong, confident and energetic leadership style, positive thinker, solution orientated.
  • High level of personal vitality and professional drive.
  • Familiar with and supporter of Quality systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Coaching and Mentoring skills 
    • Troubleshooting/Fault diagnosis
    • Finance for non-finance managers
    • Discipline and grievance procedures
