Shift Manager (Food Production Environment)– Full time, Permanent

Our client is currently looking for Shift Manager to join their team in Southampton. 

Core purpose of the Shift Manager job:

  • Meet set production targets.
  • Manage / coordinate production to required quality standards.
  • Implementing Lean Manufacturing.
  • Meet and set quality standards.
  • Manage safety across site.

The hours are…

  • 6am – 3pm Monday to Saturday
  • 2pm - 10pm (Finish) Monday to Friday
  • 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday
  • (you will work one in every 3 Saturdays)

As a Shift Manager you will be:

  • 2 hourly production updates
  • Report on budget variance/ wastage and giveaway.
  • Implement lean to improve efficiency and reduce waste reduction .
  • Control and Approve overtime daily.
  • Identify short falls of skill levels.
  • Forward planning of production lines
  • Escalate all stoppages
  • Plan holidays and holiday cover .
  • Attend manufacturing monthly quality meeting.
  • Support department audits.
  • Complete the appropriate section of NCN’s.
  • Assist/troubleshoot into quality failure as appropriate.
  • Participate in monthly factory health and safety meeting.
  • Conduct quarterly safety inspection.
  • Prepare and execute risk assessment programme.
  • Coach and mentor staff.
  • Implement lean manufacturing.
  • Report daily performance and review downtime daily.
  • Complete GMP audits.
  • Liaise with loading team to meet vehicle loading times.
  • Daily staff planning.
  • Lead by example .   

Skills required for this Shift Manager role:

  • 5 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Enthusiasm/ self-starter .  

Desirable skills:

  • Have FMCG (food ideally) experience
  • Basic food hygiene HACCP Level 2
  • Occupational health and safety certificate
  • Managing a multi-skilled production team
  • 5S SIC TPM Lean Six Sigma
