My client in Somerset is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join their manufacturing site. In the role of Supply Chain Manager, you will report directly in to the Operations Director and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies & processes that improve responsiveness, efficiency and resource use to increase overall revenue and contributing to providing service excellence to company clients.

Hours of work are 9 - 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday and you will receive a salary of up to £40,000 per annum, DOE.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Manager;

  • To implement processing policies for Sales Orders, 
  • Purchase Orders and Works Orders to maximise the use of MRP whilst maintaining inventory levels in accordance with Company objectives
  • Negotiate and manage prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders including developing cost lists.
  • Review or implement supply chain practices & processes in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws
  • To work closely with the Design and Sales teams to introduce the best suppliers at the earliest opportunity in the design of company products and at the bid stage to reduce risk to company thereby enhancing the company’s competitiveness
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements including design of metrics for comparison and evaluation
  • Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers
  • Design or implement supply chains that support environmental policies including life cycle analysis.


Role Summary

  • To lead all Procurement activities including sales administration, procurement and buying functions and production planning
  • Liaise with buyers and planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.

Duties of Supply Chain Manager;

  • Organise and run project team meetings as required
  • Organise and run meetings with client/partner as required
  • Keep relevant parties updated on changes to project scope
  • Presentation of information on projects as required.

Targets

  • On Time Delivery: 95% (Quarterly improvements required to achieve 99%)
  • Cost Savings 3% against budgeted spend
  • Contract Review Response: 1day for runner/ repeaters & 3days for strangers
  • Target 60days minimum payment terms
  • Inventory Turnover x6
  • MRP performance 98%

Skills/Qualifications/Knowledge/ Experience required

  • GCSE, ideally A Level qualifications or equivalent
  • Be computer literate in MS Office with the ability to understand and interrogate ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proven success in improving supplier performance and achieving year on year cost savings
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Experience and understanding of Consignment stock;
  • Lineside deliveries; Kan-bans; setting stock parameters and use of call-off orders
  • A good level of understanding of the environmental and sustainable impact sourcing has on our products and markets
  • Adaptable and flexible approach
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
