An immediate opportunity is now available for a Tax Manager to join a market-leading, Salisbury based Financial Services organisation.

This is a permanent position and you will be responsible for managing the taxation team ensuring all tax submissions are made on an accurate and timely basis. You will be an expert in HMRC legislation and rules and their practical application.

In this Tax Manager position, work you’ll complete will include:

 

  • To oversee the preparation and submission of various periodic tax reports and claims.
  • To provide support in the specialist subject of Taxation to the wider business.
  • To deliver a first-class client service through management and development of the Taxation team and monitoring the effectiveness of processes and systems, to achieve and excel company standards.
  • To be accountable for the department’s compliance with HMRC rules and regulations.
  • To be responsible for the delivery of KPI and MI reporting requirements as directed by the Senior Management team.
  • To own and resolve customer and team member problems and issues escalated from the team.
  • To be responsible for the achievement of the department business objectives derived from the overall company strategic plan.
  • To contribute to departmental strategy development plans and be an active stakeholder in projects to retain competitive advantage.
  • Influencing and coaching staff at all levels to achieve current business objectives.
  • To be responsible for resource and succession planning including recruitment, training and development and performance management of
  • team.
  • To develop and maintain comprehensive understanding of the department processes.
  • To proactively develop and facilitate strong external and internal relationships, including other business areas, providing excellent client service.
  • To be accountable for the department’s compliance with all company policies and procedures, ensuring that all team members work within these and the Risk and Governance framework and to be responsible for and comply with the Company’s Training and Competency Scheme requirements.
  • To manage, monitor and report operational risks appropriately on a regular basis, minimising reputational damage and costs; including up to date Business Continuity Plans and Department Risk Registers.
  • To ensure the Principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) are adhered to at all times.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of the tax system
  • Experience of dealing with HMRC on a wide range of issues
  • Proven management skills with the ability to achieve results through people
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal, demonstrating the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Able to analyse and interpret complex information and produce clear and concise reports
  • Experience of process improvement
  • Ability to manage processes and people in a changing environment
  • Good level of persuasion, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Sound knowledge of systems and their capability
  • Proven diagnostic, problem solving and decision-making skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the tax legislation/guidance covering applicable to pension schemes
  • Experience of the financial services industry
  • Tax qualification (ATT/CTA)
